A royal affair: Planning the perfect visit to Liria Palace

If you’re in Madrid and even mildly into history, art, or grand old buildings, Liria Palace, popularly known as Palacio Liria, is worth your time. Just a 10-minute walk from the Gran Vía, this 18th-century palace is the private home of the House of Alba, and it's stacked with treasures. We're talking paintings, royal letters, antique furniture, and one seriously impressive library. The digital and guided tours are short, sweet, and surprisingly entertaining.

Best time to visit Liria Palace

If you want to feel like royalty without the crowds, aim for a weekday morning, preferably in spring (April–June) or early autumn (September–October). The weather’s delightful, the palace gardens are at their prettiest, and your photos will be free of photobombing strangers.

Avoid high summer unless you enjoy the feeling of slowly roasting in the Madrid sun. The palace is air-conditioned, sure—but the lines and tourist crush? Not so chill. Afternoons tend to be busier, so channel your inner early bird and claim your cultural worm.
