The palace is open between Tuesday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Access is until 5pm, and the palace is closed on Mondays. 

The palace's opening hours vary depending on which month of the year you plan on visiting. Between November and February, it is open from 10am to 6pm, while from June 16 to August, it is open from 10am to 9pm.

You can also get free entrance to the palace and its gardens on Wednesday and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. 

However, there are certain conditions that you must meet to benefit from the free entrance. Children under 5 can enter for free, individuals with disabilities can show their credentials to get free access, and teachers holding their teaching credentials on a private visit can also enter for free.

You can reach the Royal Palace of La Granja by car, bus, or train. 

By car: You can get to the Palace via the Marid-Segovia motorway or the A-6 / AP-6 / AP-61. You can also take the M-601. 

By train: You can take the AVE or the high-speed rail or ride on a regional train from Segovia-Guiomar station. You can then take a bus to get to the palace. 

By bus: You can get on the Madrid-Segovia like on an Avanza bus. Alternatively, you can also take a Linecar bus on the Segovia-San Ildefonso line.

  • Accessibility: The Royal Palace of La Granja offers access to those with reduced mobility and manual wheelchairs. 
  • Restrooms: The palace has restrooms on the premises. 
  • Parking: The palace doesn’t have its own parking, but you can access free street parking very close to the palace complex.

  • There is no restaurant or cafe within the palace complex, so be sure to carry some water and snacks with you. However, do ask the staff where you’re allowed to grab a snack and make sure to dispose of your waste responsibly. 
  • The best time to witness the fountains is between April and mid-October when they’re fully functional. 
  • The palace and its gardens are extensive, and you can spend several hours there. As a result, you must make sure to wear comfortable shoes if you plan on spending a fair amount of time exploring the gardens. 
  • Don’t forget to carry your camera along. You’re allowed to take photographs for personal use, albeit without the use of flash. However, keep an eye out for any signs that expressly prohibit photography in certain areas.

You’ll find several cafes, bars, and restaurants near the palace that cater to different tastes and budgets. Here are a few options you can consider: 

  • La Fundición Restaurante: Known for its innovative approach to food and a wholesome dining experience, this restaurant is a mere 5-minute walk from the palace. 
  • Restaurante Casa Zaca: This Spanish restaurant is no more than a 5-minute walk from the palace and is well known for its lamb chops and stews. We’d recommend you make a reservation before your visit to avoid having to wait for a table. 
  • Bar - Restaurante La Panaderia: This restaurant and bar is a short 600-meter walk from the palace and offers excellent service and attention to detail. Their menu offers plenty of great meats and wines, making for the perfect meal once you’re done exploring the palace and its sprawling gardens.
